It seems to be all extremes for the Lions, who left their base amid central station in downtown Brisbane yesterday and made the relatively short flight south to Sydney, where they are based in the coastal suburb and yachting haunt of Manly, replete with ocean and harbour beaches. Surfers were riding the high waves on a busy Sunday yesterday in Manly, so named by Captain Arthur Phillip, the commander of the first fleet who was exploring Sydney Harbour in 1788 when he proclaimed a set of well-built Aboriginals as "manly".
