Trainer's frustration

Steve Collins (left) appears to have the brakes put on his high-profile start in the training game. Scott Welch this week pulled out of his title clash with German Axel Schulz. For the unfortunate Welch it is the third time the title fight has had to be postponed because of one thing or another.

The pair were supposed to meet in Leipzig on August 22nd but Welch had to pull out after cracking a rib in sparring at the new Dublin gym of his new trainer Collins. It appears that the injury is serious enough to keep the boxer off the canvas for a further two months. It is a shame for Collins who over the coming years will try to establish his gym for top-class fighters, having already proven himself, between bouts of crowing for Roy Jones Junior, as an articulate and insightful commentator.
