As if life wasn't tough enough at struggling Sheffield Wednesday for Belgian striker Gilles De Bilde he now faces a jail sentence after being caught (allegedly) smuggling his two Dobermans and his cat into Britain to beat rabies laws, according to the News of the World.

De Bilde offered a boat-owning friend £3,500 to ship his wife, dogs and cat from Ostend to Yarmouth, but the offer was turned down because the boat-owner feared being caught in the act. But De Bilde, by all accounts, managed to find another boat-owner willing to take up his offer and last week the dogs and the cat were photographed romping merrily in his Sheffield garden.

The News of the World, though, got wind of the story and sent a photographer to Sheffield to take snaps of the illegal immigrants. An altercation ensued between De Bilde and the photographer - who was dispossessed of his camera in the process - but the paper is now offering their "dossier on dog-smuggler De Bilde" to the authorities.
