There was some cracking action at the National Arena in Tallaght yesterday as the All-Ireland Schools' League finals entered their penultimate day.

Pride of place went to the girls from Teresian School, Donnybrook, who were involved in a riveting contest with Colaiste An Phiarsaigh, Glanmire, for the Senior B title.

Glanmire, a co-educational Cork gaelscoil, was aiming for a double on the day after taking the the under-16 B boys' title in the preceding affair. And for a while it looked on the cards with Laura Nic Giolla Phadraigh hitting some inspired baskets for the Leesiders. But by the final time-out there was little to choose between the two.

Then Glanmire had to do without the services of Nic Giolla Phadraigh who was sidelined for a fifth foul.

That coupled with an outstanding performance from Teresians' Ciara Doyle eventually saw Teresians pull away, with Doyle fittingly firing home the final basket from the free-throw line to hand her side a four-point victory.
