Terenure - 16 Ballymena - 6: Ballymena moved nearer the relegation zone following this defeat at Lakelands Park on Saturday. Both teams were only able to manage a penalty apiece after the break as the respective kickers did not have a particularly fruitful afternoon.
While Terenure's win moved them nearer a play-off spot it's hard to see them progressing on this evidence. The bulk of the scores came in the first half with Terenure outhalf Richard Governey sending over his team's first points after five minutes.
Ballymena's attempts to reduce the arrears were scuppered by their off-form kicker Peter McIntosh, who managed just two kicks from six.
Terenure managed to pull away with tries from Dermot Blaney and Seán King on 15 and 23 minutes. Governey and McIntosh managed two penalties apiece but elsewhere Terenure were never able to deliver on their early promise.
