TERENURE held off a determined second half comeback by Bective to reach the Metropolitan cup final at Belfield yesterday.

Terenure had the better of the first half exchanges with fullback Peter Walsh scoring four penalties and the left wing Gavin Barlow completing a fine back line move.

In contrast Bective seemed strangely subdued and could muster only a penalty by out half Daniel McGee which made it 17-3 to Terenure at half time.

A further penalty by McGee and a try by centre Andrew Johnson signalled a second half comeback by the Donnybrook side.
