Finished fourth in the US PGA Championship behind Harrington and third behind the Irishman at Royal Birkdale.

Noted for his ball-striking.

Of 32 players canvassed prior to the event in Gleneagles about potential wild cards, 29 went for Darren Clarke and one for the Englishman. Finished second behind Harrington at the British Open.
