BOXING:Irish middleweight Darren Sutherland will have to be content with a bronze medal from the Chemistry Cup senior Multi Nations in Germany after he bowed out at the semi-final stage yesterday.

Sutherland, from the St Saviours club in Dublin, lost his last-four clash to Germany's Constantine Buga 13-23 in one of the surprise results of the tournament.

Meanwhile, world lightweight and European champion Katie Taylor will be in the ring in Istanbul today to face French boxer Cindy Orain in the semi-finals of the Ahmet Comet Cup.

Taylor has already seen off the challenges of two opponents on the 15-point rule to set up the clash, and the 20-year-old St Fergal's, Bray, boxer is feeling confident. She said: "I have enjoyed my two fights so far and I am looking forward to the semi-final. It will be another tough fight but I would be confident that I will get the right result."
