Dundalk IT left Santry yesterday with nothing to show for a lively first-half display that had Trinity on the back foot for long spells and only one point ahead at the break.

Trinity lost Niall Kelly after 25 minutes when he was sent off along with Dundalk full back Padraig McKenna. When Dundalk tagged on another fine score from Darren Reddy on the restart Trinity needed to up their game and did so.

Plunkett McConville began to dictate proceedings at midfield and there was little surprise when he ghosted in behind the Trinity defence to put the finishing touch to a well-worked three-man move and put his team 1-5 to 0-5 up with seven minutes still to play.
