Morgan Lyons helped himself to 20 points as Rockwell College shocked five-in-a-row chasing Christian Brothers College, Cork, in the Munster Schools' Senior Cup semi-final at Thomond Park yesterday.

The Tipperary side gained sweet revenge for the defeat at the hands of CBC in last year's final.

Rockwell thus advance to meet Limerick side St Munchin's College in next month's final, hoping to win the cup after a break of 16 years.

CBC got off to the perfect start when wing Mark Canning got over for the first of his two tries after five minutes. But it was Rockwell who led 12-10 at the interval, thanks to four penalty goals from Lyons.

Rockwell had a big slice of luck after the interval when crossing for their only try. A penalty attempt from Lyons hit the protective padding around the goalpost. As CBC players hesitated, Rockwell centre Brendan O'Connor displayed admirable opportunism to swoop for the vital touchdown.

Although CBC number eight Frank Cogan got in for a try late on, Lyons ensured a surprise Rockwell win with yet another late penalty.
