LENISTER COLLEGES: St Peter's College cruised to a comfortable win, 5-20 to 1-5, over Boyne CS in their 'A' senior football championship opening-round tie at Athy yesterday.

By the end of the opening quarter, St Peter's had moved into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead and two goals in a two-minute spell from Johnny Murphy and Stephen Banville eased them into a 2-7 to 0-1 lead after 19 minutes. A further goal from Neil McDonald seven minutes before the break helped them into a 3-11 to 0-2 interval lead.

Wayne Leonard pulled a goal back for Boyne CS after the restart but St Peter's added goals through McDonald and Emmett Rice.
