St Gerald's 2-7 St Colman's 0-9:St Gerald's had to fight off a rearguard attack from the Claremorris side on Saturday in Ballyhaunis before securing their place in the final where they will meet the winners of tomorrow's game between St Jarlath's and Summerhill.

The Castlebar students appeared to be coasting when they built up a 2-5 to 0-1 lead after 28 minutes. Michael Plunkett, who knocked the ball from the goalkeeper’s hands on seven minutes and Adam Murphy, with a firm finish on 23 minutes nailed the goals for St Gerald’s before two late points from Kevin Lynch kept St Colman’s clinging on.

Although they managed just two points in the second half it was enough for St Gerald’s, a point in injury-time from Plunkett making the game safe after Adam Gallagher and Lynch had hauled their team back into contention. The Claremorris side were left to rue 10 wides.
