SOLE POWER remains on course to be part of the Irish team on Arc day at Longchamp next month with the Group One winning sprinter set to run in the Prix de l’Abbaye if ground conditions are suitable.

Eddie Lynam’s gelding failed to fire in his first start over six furlongs since his two-year-old days behind Dream Ahead in last weekend’s Sprint Cup at Haydock.

However, Sole Power’s career best displays have all come at the minimum five furlongs, the distance over which the Abbaye is run. “It just didn’t work out at Haydock, but he’s fine,” Lynam said yesterday. “He’ll go for the French race if the ground is okay. That’s the plan.”

Sole Power won the Temple Stakes at Haydock earlier this year and last season was a memorable 100 to 1 winner of the Nunthorpe at York.
