Striker King charged with nightclub assault

SOCCER : Middlesbrough striker Marlon King has been charged with attacking a woman in a London nightclub.

Metropolitan Police said King, 28, will appear before magistrates later this month.

The forward, who is on loan to Middlesbrough from Wigan, is alleged to have sexually assaulted and punched a 20-year old woman at Soho Revue Bar in Brewer Street in December.

King was arrested on December 10th after an incident. A woman received hospital treatment for a broken nose and split lip.

King was bailed by police and ordered to return to a station today, when he was charged.

He was released on bail to appear at City of Westminster magistrates court on February 25th on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault by touching.

The Wigan forward was on loan to another Premier League team, Hull City, at the time of the alleged incident.
