FA Cup round-up:: A first-half blitz from Blackburn helped put Everton out of the competition at the first hurdle, as Rovers won 4-1 at Goodison Park.

Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire, who spent much of last season on loan at League Two Wrexham, scored his second goal in a week as Mark Hughes' side scored three times in the first 38 minutes.

Derbyshire followed up his strike against Wigan on New Year's Day with a regulation finish after Tim Howard spilled Morten Gamst Pedersen's effort.

Pedersen then gave Howard no chance after 21 minutes, drilling home a 25-yard drive before Paul Gallagher made it three before the break.

Everton's consolation came in the second half when Andrew Johnson converted a 69th-minute penalty.

Benni McCarthy finished things with his 13th strike of the season in stoppage time.

Sheffield Wednesday hit back from a goal behind to draw 1-1 with Premiership opponents Manchester City.

Steven MacLean grabbed the equaliser just moments after going behind when he lashed the ball past Nicky Weaver from 20 yards.

Georgios Samaras scored the opener from the spot after Micah Richards was brought down by Kenny Lunt.

Wednesday, on top for large periods of the match, had chances to win it late on as Maclean and Wade Small had opportunities but City held out for a replay.
