League of Ireland: Pádraig Amond struck 10 minutes from time to left Shamrock Rovers into first in the League of Ireland's Premier Division at the expense of bitter rivals and guests at the Tallaght Stadium Bohemians.

The striker was only on the pitch three minutes when he struck a breaking ball in the Bohs box off the back off Gypsies defender Brian Shelley and into the net, but the hosts still needed an unlikely stroke of luck to take all three points.

That came when Jason Byrne, of all people, blazed his penalty over the bar after Glen Crowe went down under a rather tame challenge from Pat Sullivan and Alan Kelly quickly pointed to the spot.

It was a pulsating final 10 minutes to an otherwise forgettable game, largely contested in the midfield.
