Uefa Cup:Rangers booked their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup as they won the second leg of their tie with Hapoel Tel-Aviv 4-0 at Ibrox to run out comfortably 5-2 aggregate victors.

Captain Barry Ferguson scored twice and Kris Boyd and Charlie Adam netted a goal apiece as Walter Smith's men moved through.

However, goalkeeper Allan McGregor was sent off, meaning he misses the first leg of the last-16 match.

Obafemi Martins' 14th goal of the season ensured Newcastle also went through, winning 4-1 on aggregate with a second victory over Belgian minnows Zulte Waregem.

The Nigeria international won the game with a 68th-minute finish from Damien Duff's pass as the Magpies struggled to build upon their 3-1 first-leg lead.

Steven Taylor, James Milner and Kieron Dyer had earlier gone close, although Steve Harper had to save from Wouter Vandendriessche on 53 minutes and substitute Tim Matthys at the death as the visitors made a game of it.

But Blackburn crashed out as they could only draw 0-0 with Bayer Leverkusen at Ewood Park to lose the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

In front of a crowd of 25,124 - the third-best at Ewood this season, attracted by cut price tickets - Rovers battled hard for the one goal they needed.

Indeed Morten Gamst Pedersen, Benni McCarthy and Shabani Nonda all had chances to break the deadlock on the night, but could not find the net.

There were only a couple of moments of danger at the other end, most notably when Bernd Schneider grazed the outside of the post, but it was ultimately a night of frustration for the Blackburn supporters as their side crashed out.
