League of Ireland round-up: Bohemians strengthened their grip on the Premier Division title with a 2-0 away win at St Patrick's Athletic. Nearest challengers Shamrock Rovers did manage to eke out a point at Cork City but now find themselves five points adrift of their Dublin rivals.

Ken Oman was the unlikely hero for Bohemians at Richmond Park, the defender scoring both of the league leaders goals and tripling his tally for the season in the process.

Both arrived courtesy of set-piece moves with Oman profiting from a deflected Paul Keegan corner for the first and getting on the end of Joseph Ndo ball, again from a corner, for the second.

A healthy crowd of over 3,600 turned up at Turner’s Cross as the cash-strapped Leesiders were held to a draw by Rovers.

City shaded a tight contest and could have emerged with all three points but Gareth Cambridge and Billy Dennehy passed up chances to seal the win.

Derry City kept up their push for a European place with a 4-0 win at the Showgrounds. Having been held scoreless in the opening 45 minutes, Derry’s class told after the break as Mark Farren (2), David Scullion and Peter Hutton claimed the spoils.

Elsewhere, Drogheda’s survival bid was boosted with a 2-0 win at Galway United while Bray grabbed a precious point with a 0-0 draw at Dundalk.
