Community Shield: Gary Neville is set to skipper Manchester United in their Community Shield duel with Portsmouth on Sunday. Other than an appearance against Roma in the Champions League last term, Neville has been missing since breaking his ankle in March 2007.

Michael Carrick and Nani should also play but Cristiano Ronaldo is recovering from an ankle operation, Owen Hargreaves, Ben Foster, Louis Saha and Park Ji-sung (all knee) are out, Anderson is at the Olympic Games, while Wayne Rooney has only just returned to training after picking up a virus on tour in Nigeria.

Portsmouth could be without midfielders Lassana Diarra (ankle) and Sean Davis (hip). New signing Glen Little is also trying to shake off a thigh injury and on-loan Chelsea player Ben Sahar is set to be a substitute, meaning Portsmouth's team is unlikely to show many changes to the one which won the FA Cup in May.

Midfielder Sulley Muntari has left for Inter Milan so will be missing, while new signing Peter Crouch is set to feature in attack alongside Jermain Defoe, with Kanu on the bench.
