Ian Turner brace at Turner’s Cross

Cork City extend unbeaten home run in the league to six games

Cork City 2 UCD 0
A pair of goals early in the first half from Ian Turner extended Cork City's unbeaten home run in the league to six games as they overcame UCD at Turner's Cross last night.

In the ninth minute, a cross from Turner was handled by the visitors' Gary Burke in the process of attempting to clear the ball and the midfielder stepped up himself to confidently send the ball past Mark McGinley. Six minutes later, both Turner and Cork had doubled their lead as, after taking the ball from Shane Duggan 30 yards out, his left-footed shot took a deflection off the Students' Mick Leahy, wrongfooting McGinley.

UCD rarely threatened in the second half and Cork couldn't add a third but the points were secure.
