Champions League: Dirk Kuyt struck twice in the dying minutes as Liverpool cruised into the group stage of the Champions League with a 4-0 win over Toulouse at Anfield.

Five times champions Liverpool won the third qualifying round tie 5-0 on aggregate after earlier goals by striker Peter Crouch and defender Sami Hyypia.

Crouch was at the far post to prod home Kuyt's right cross in the 19th minute and double the aggregate advantage.

Hyypia scored with a free header from a corner four minutes into the second half to virtually make the tie safe for Liverpool before Kuyt's late brace - a low cross shot inside the far post from the right and a neat chip past the keeper.

Liverpool dominated the game and should have scored more with Crouch guilty of missing three good chances while Kuyt saw a deflected shot hit the bar.

Rangers booked their place in the lucrative group stages of the Champions League after a battling display against Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade earned them a 0-0 draw and a 1-0 aggregate success.

Nacho Novo's goal in the final minute at Ibrox a fortnight ago proved the difference between the two sides but Allan McGregor was the hero in the second leg.

Walter Smith's side were superbly organised and restricted the home side to a handful of chances in front of the expectant and passionate Crvena supporters.

Rangers' most worrying moment came in the very first minute of the match when Carlos Cuellar allowed the ball to bounce on the edge of his own box and Igor Burzanovic fired in a low shot which McGregor saved well.

McGregor was on hand to again deny Burzanovic in the first half, while Dusan Andjelkovic sliced horribly over when well placed in the 36th minute.

Jean Claude Darcheville was impressive as the lone striker for Rangers and could even have made the game safe in the 57th minute when he wriggled clear but flashed his shot across the face of goal.

And 10 minutes later McGregor had to be at his best again when he tipped Ognjen Koroman's vicious dipping effort from outside the box over the bar.
