Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech cannot remember anything of the incident which left him with two metal plates inserted in his head after a game with Reading 13 days ago.

The Czech Republic international says he also wakes up at night with intense headaches following his skull injury he sustained.

"Sometimes it is difficult because you wake up and you have a horrible headache so you have to take your medication," he said today.

"I just try to live with that and every day it is going to get better," the 24-year-old added in the interview with Chelsea TV.

Cech needed surgery on his fractured skull after the collision, which manager Jose Mourinho claimed could have killed him, with two metal plates inserted into his head.

He said he cannot remember anything about the incident in the opening minute of the game when Reading's Irish frontman Stephen Hunt caught his head with his knee as the goalkeeper slid out to smother a loose ball.

Cech, who expressed gratitude for the support he has received from inside and outside his club, said the last thing he remembers was shaking hands before the game started.

"I don't even remember the kickoff and I don't remember the incident," said Cech.

Cech, who won't return to training for three months, was in hospital until earlier this week and returned for the first time to Chelsea's practice grounds yesterday.

"I have seen (the incident) on TV once and I don't want to speak about this for the moment," he said. "For me it is very difficult, but the club are dealing with it. I am just concentrating on coming back to fitness."  Reuters
