Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson is determined to pick the right man from a line of contenders to become the club's new manager.

With Steve McClaren heading out of the Riverside Stadium to become England's new head coach after the World Cup, Boro find themselves needing to find a new leader.

Martin O'Neill, Wigan boss Paul Jewell and Terry Venables are the early favourites with bookmakers, however the UEFA Cup runners-up are only now turning their focus towards recruiting a new boss, in the wake of Wednesday's drubbing by Sevilla in Eindhoven.

Gibson, whose club have enjoyed a fair level of success under both Bryan Robson and McClaren, are now looking to push for a top-six finish in the Premiership, having laboured to 14th place in the season just ended.
