Former West Ham forward Iain Dowie has admitted he would be interested if the club approached him to take over as manager from Glenn Roeder, who was sacked on Sunday.
Dowie, who guided cash-strapped Oldham into the Division Two play-offs last season, has done a great job with little money at Boundary Park and was immediately installed as one of the favourites to take over from Roeder.
"West Ham was the team I supported as a boy," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"Everyone is aware of the financial situation at Oldham and anyone - never mind me - would be interested in a position at West Ham."
Wolverhampton Wanderers hope to sign Brazilian former Middlesbrough midfielder Emerson from Atletico Madrid in time for a debut against champions Manchester United tomorrow.
Wolves, who have shipped nine goals in two games in a dismal start to their first Premiership season, said yesterday they were on the verge of signing the 31-year-old who spent two seasons at the Riverside.
Wolves, who lost 5-1 at Blackburn Rovers on their Premiership debut 10 days ago and were crushed 4-0 at home by Charlton Athletic on Saturday, are also giving a trial to Czech former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek.
