SLIGO GRAMMAR SCHOOL swept to a runaway 26-3 win over Colaiste Iognaid, Galway in the Connacht Schools Senior Cup semi final in Sligo yesterday.

A powerful performance by out half Karl Gilligan, who scored more than half of his team's total, rocked the Galway college, who had no answer to their opponents' forceful play.

Grammar opened the scoring with a Gilligan penalty after five minutes and when centre Trevor Henry got in for a try in the 12th minute the visitors were facing an uphill battle.

Colaiste Iognaid out half Conor McGinley struck a penalty goal after 20 minutes but, by the end of the first half, the home side led 16-3.
