Setback for Leitrim

NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR:Sligo 4-14 Leitrim 1-8

LEITRIM’S PROMOTION hopes took an unexpected nosedive with a 15-point drubbing by Sligo at Markievicz Park yesterday.

Mickey Moran’s side were a manageable 1-8 to 0-5 in arrears at half-time but when Kenneth Sweeney cracked the ball to the Leitrim net after three minutes of the second half to put Sligo eight points ahead they were in trouble.

Sweeney bagged a second goal in the 62nd minute and Seán Davey added to the visitors’ woes with Sligo’s fourth goal a minute into stoppage time.
