Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Saffron Walden is among trainer Aidan O'Brien's five initial acceptors for the Meld Stakes at the Curragh on Friday.

"Saffron Walden is well and is a possible for the Meld, but we will decide nearer the time," O'Brien said yesterday. The colt was seventh of 16 behind Oath in the Vodafone Derby at Epsom.

Newmarket trainer Michael Jarvis is also considering running Alrassaam for the Meld Stakes.

Meanwhile, O'Brien reports that Alex Ferguson's Heritage Hall, the first winner in Ireland for the Manchester United manager when scoring readily at the Curragh last month, could also run on Friday.

"Heritage Hall is a possible for the Merrion EBF Race though we might run a maiden instead," O'Brien said.

The Curragh announced yesterday that there were four second entries, three of them from England, at a cost of £3,500 each for the Moyglare Stud Stakes on September 5th.

Torgau, the winner of the Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket for Giles Bravery, is the principal addition to the Group One event along with Jeff Pearce's Indeedyedo, Roshani from the Mick Channon stable and the unraced Mandma, trained by John Oxx.
