White 'not applying' to Wallabies

Outgoing South Africa coach Jake White is not interested in taking charge of either Australia or Wales, his agent claimed today.

White, who confirmed his departure as coach of the World Cup-winning Springboks on Wednesday, has been linked to a host of possible roles including the vacant posts with the Wallabies and Wales.

The Australian Rugby Union revealed this week White had been in contact with them about the vacancy left by John Connolly's departure, while he has also been named as a possible replacement for former Wales coach Gareth Jenkins

But White's agent, Craig Livingstone, has played down the links.

"He's made no decision on his future, but I can confirm he's definitely not applying for the Wallabies job," said Craig Livingstone.

"He's also unlikely to pursue a career with Wales.  The Bok coaching matter has now been finalised and sorted out and all Jake wants to do now is take some time out.

"Jake's book is coming out in a few weeks' time and he'll be busy with that for a while yet. He's got a number of corporate engagements coming up, so it'll be at least six months before he makes any decision on his future."

White announced he was leaving his post in a press conference on Wednesday, during which he also launched an attack on SA Rugby after they revealed he was not on a shortlist of four names to fill the position.

White, who led the Springboks to a 15-6 win over England at the World Cup final last month, admitted he was "extremely disappointed" and had "plenty of sadness" as he walked away from a role he had filled for the past four years.

Prior to the World Cup, he had informed SA Rugby of his intentions not to extend his stay with the team, prompting the governing body to advertise the position.

White will lead the side on their tour of Britain later this month before stepping down. The Springboks are due to play Wales on November 24th, before taking on the Barbarians at Twickenham a week later - White's final game in charge.

Livingstone added: He's got a special bond with the players and is looking forward to going on tour with them for one last time.  He's certainly going to make the most of the tour and enjoy it."
