SHAMROCK ROVERS could become tenants of Tolka Park again next season in a temporary ground sharing arrangement, pending talks with Shelbourne this week.

The Rovers chairman and major shareholder, John McNamara, is believed to have agreed terms for the takeover of the club by a consortium involving businessman attached to the Premier Group which will ultimately involve a move to a new £4 million, 8,000 all seated ground adjacent to The Square in Tallaght. However, the new ground may only be completed in time for the 1997- 98 season.

Maintaining the link between St James's Gate and Premier Group, it is expected that Pat Byrne, who recently resigned as manager at the Iveagh Grounds, will become general manager at Rovers under the new consortium. This would allow Alan O'Neill to remain on as manager.
