Cistercian Roscrea's greater fluency was the main difference between the teams as they defeated De La Salle, Churchtown, at Athy.
The Dublin school were first to score when their reliable kicker Eoghan Hickey converted a penalty. However, Gavan Duffy and Barry Phelan each crossed the line for Roscrea and a third try from Shane Connellan gave them a 15-6 interval lead. Any possibility of a Churchtown recovery all but disappeared when Sean Byrne added a Roscrea try within a minute of the re-start.
Churchtown replied with an excellent try by Mark O'Sullivan in the 46th minute. But Roscrea were always stronger and they had two more tries before the end of the game.
