School's rugby/CBC Monkstown 10 Templelogue College 3:The CBC forwards finally got the better of Templeogue in a fiercely-fought tussle, and ended up narrow winners with two tries against a penalty goal at Iveagh Grounds.
Winger David Finnegan set CBC on their way with a well-taken try after 14 minutes, but a clean penalty strike by scrumhalf Ian McCormack after 23 minutes kept Templeogue in contention.
From there on, both sides showed fine skills and serious determination, but neither could break the stalemate.
The game switched from end to end in a highly entertaining see-saw match before CBC finally broke through. Their opportunity came from a five-metre penalty lineout and their forwards surged over the line for captain James Rogers to touch down.
