Rockwell College 9 Glenstal Abbey 3:WHILE neither side could manage a try in the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup tie at Clanwilliam yesterday, the outcome means Rockwell will be at home against Castletroy College next time out.

Glenstal paid for early indiscipline and conceded penalties for scrum infringements in the fifth and eighth minutes, both of which were converted by centre Liam Casey.

In what was mainly a forward battle, Rockwell had the edge, with skipper Killian Farrell leading by example, while John Smyth and Erin McCarthy did well in the lineouts.

Wing Ryan Deelemas and halfbacks Ben Reilly and Joss Murray made most of the possession offered by their dominant pack.

Rockwell conceded a penalty for coming in on the wrong side of the ruck on 18 minutes which captain and outhalf Kevin O’Keeffe converted and it remained 6-3 until 12 minutes from the end when Casey was on target with a third penalty.

Glenstal worked hard in a bid to keep in touch and it was not the fault of Albrecht Plettenberg, Ben Clancy, Hugh Connors or Kevin OKeeffe that they must try to progress through the losers group.
