Séamus Roche of Tipperary has been appointed to take charge of Sunday week's All-Ireland hurling final between Cork and Galway, writes Seán Moran. It will be his first time to officiate at the MacCarthy Cup decider.
This will be his third senior final of the year, as he refereed the All-Ireland club final between James Stephens and Athenry last March and two months ago he was in charge of the Leinster final when Kilkenny beat Wexford.
Only nine days ago he was in the middle for the highly acclaimed Galway-Kilkenny All-Ireland semi-final.
A former footballer and hurler with his club, Kilsheelan, Roche has been refereeing for around 12 years and joined the inter-county panel five years ago.
The minor final, between Limerick and Galway, will be refereed by Dublin's Eamonn Morris from the St Finian's club in Swords.
