Ridaiyma looks best bet

Ridaiyma has solid credentials in the £30,000added Tote Credit November Handicap at Doncaster today. Three-year-olds have an excellent record in the race and Luca Cumani's filly has progressed throughout the campaign.

She missed most of the summer after winning a Chepstow maiden in June and impressed when returning to the track at Kempton in late August.

In a competitive handicap, Ridaiyma shot clear from five furlongs out and then held on gamely to beat Arctic Owl by a neck.

She then acted as a pacemaker in the Group One Prix Vermeille at Longchamp and, in fulfilling that role, was far from disgraced. She finished just over eight lengths in sixth behind Queen Maud and though possibly flattered in terms of a bare rating, proved herself on her latest start.

Contesting the Tote Sunday Special Handicap at Ascot, Ridaiyma was clearly squeezed out by Taufan's Melody and, after running on well to finish three quarters of a length second to that rival, was awarded the race in the stewards' room.

Ridaiyma looks to have sufficient improvement in her to overcome a 7lb rise and can follow in the footsteps of Saxon Maid, who was a similarly progressive filly for Cumani when successful in this contest in 1994.
