Reveley set for more success at Newmarket

MARY REVELEY looks set for another successful trip to Newmarket this evening

MARY REVELEY looks set for another successful trip to Newmarket this evening. The shrewd trainer has gained two of the biggest wins her career on the Rowley Mile course.

She landed the Cambridgeshire there with Mellottie to announce her arrival in 1991. And the north of England's most successful dual purpose trainer added to her laurels by taking last year's Cesarewitch with Old Red.

Reveley will not be playing for such high stakes in the K and N Waite Construction Handicap on the July course this time. But she should certainly return with the prize once again as her runner, Welsh Mill, has a chance second to none.

The seven year old is in fine heart at present, following wins at Hamilton and Haydock with a fine third in a valuable event at Ayr last time. And good recent form is thin on the ground among today's five rivals, each of whom was below his best on his latest outing.

History can repeat itself at Haydock with victory for Rood Music in the Dean Dam Handicap. The gelding scored in a similar event over course and distance on his second start last summer when he improved dramatically for a down the field reappearance.

Michael Meagher is following the same path this term with the five year old who showed up well for a long way until lack of peak fitness told against him on his first run of the year at Pontefract last month.

Rood Music will be spot on after that pipe opener and has been found a decidedly uncompetitive race in which he has every chance of emulating last year's victory.

Earlier, North Reef can continue Sir Mark Prescott's fine recent run with success in the Gatehouse Handicap.
