Ruby Walsh suffers sprained ankle after fall at Clonmel

Decision on jockey’s return will not be made until Friday

Ruby Walsh suffered an injury scare ahead of next week's English Grand National meeting after spraining his left ankle in a fall at Clonmel.

Ireland’s leading jump jockey was stood down for the rest of the day after taking a tumble from the Willie Mullins-trained Bleu Berry at the final flight when in second place behind eventual winner Alamein in the opening Easter Holidays Maiden Hurdle.

He was able back to the weighing room but was taken off his only other mount on the card, Michael Hourigan’s The Job Is Right in the Suir Valley Chase.

Irish Turf Club doctor John Downey said: "Ruby will ice his ankle when he arrives home and we'll decide from there.
