Sligo manager Paul Cooke was bitterly disappointed with the result. “It’s hard at the moment not getting what we deserve, we’re not seeing games out, there’s an ingredient missing, something is missing, not a lot, but it will have to be put right. It’s hurting me and there are a lot of disappointed lads in there in the dressingroom.

“We are giving other teams a leg up and it’s time we gave ourselves a leg up” said Cooke.

Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon was delighted to be leaving the Showgrounds “with a big three points”. He was full of praise for his side’s “fantastic play and the great character shown by the players” particularly in the closing stages of the game. Commenting on Sligo’s goal, Fenlon said his players would “have to do better” when defending set pieces.

He was full of praise for substitutes Quigley and Greene whose introduction “gave the team legs” at a vital stage of the game.
