WIMBLEDON hard man Vinnie Jones will captain Wales in tonight's World Cup qualifier against Holland in Eindhoven after a vote among the players.

Wales' manager, Bobby Gould who managed Jones at Wimbledon, was anxious to avoid accusations of favouritism in selecting a one off captain to stand in for regular skipper Barry Horne - sidelined by a hamstring strain.

Gould said: "We had a democratic vote among the players and they chose Vinnie as captain. They know who they want to lead them."

Jones admits he will be bursting with pride when he leads Wales out in the Philips Stadium and insists he will not be swapping his captain's shirt with the likes of Dennis Bergkamp at the end of the match.

"No one's getting this shirt," he vowed. "It's going to be up there with the debut shirt."

Dutch coach, Guus Hiddink, is keeping his team under wraps until the last minute. Speculation centres on who will partner Bergkamp up front, assuming that Hiddink keeps faith with the 4-4-2 formation deployed when the Dutch beat Wales 3-1 in Cardiff last month.

Versatile Ronald De Boer played up front alongside Jordi Cruyff in Cardiff.
