Gary Twigg’s performances over the final weeks of his Shamrock Rovers career have earned him another PFAI/Airtricity Player of the Month Award with six goals in his final four games – including two against UCD in his last home game for the club – enough to see off the opposition.

The striker departs for Portadown with two league and one Setanta Cup winner’s medal and after four prolific years in Tallaght it seems safe to suggest that his hero status there will endure for many years to come.

After hearing he had won the award for a fourth time he predicted the club will go on to further success under new manager Trevor Croly.“I think Trev is the right man to bring the club forward. This year, we expected and wanted to do a lot better than we did, so that was disappointing. But I firmly believe that Trev is the man to get them moving in the right direction again.”
