CHELSEA/Petr Cech 8: Wonderful save from Baros' header frustrated the visitors as they made their first real opportunity.

Glen Johnson 5: Found himself occasionally shown up by Riise and struggled to sprint up-field in support of his colleagues.

Ricardo Carvalho 5: Tidied up effectively, though was flummoxed by Garcia's gliding run and beaten by Baros in the air for Cech's save.

John Terry 7: Reassuring presence in defence as ever. Might have converted just before the break but miskicked from edge of the area.

William Gallas 6: Looked Uncomfortable switching to right foot, but marauded forward when he could. Cross almost eked out a goal for Lampard.

Tiago 5: Ventured forward with menace but fluffed his chances to make a real impact in front of goal and was replaced by Robben.

Eidur Gudjohnsen 6: Was at his best when turning to run from deep, even spreading play expertly to Cole on the right.

Claude Makelele 5: Looked uncharacteristically slapdash with his early passing, though still busy as the defensive shield.

Frank Lampard 8: Should have converted Cole's knock-down, but his charges from deep spread alarm and his passes prompted panic.

Joe Cole 7: Terrorised Traore twisting and turning down right and offered nuisance value in the area.

Didier Drogba 6: Rarely gleaned space from Carragher, though beat Hyypia in the air to thump first-half header over the bar.

Jerzy Dudek 6: Attempted to give the impression of calm authority, though was not always entirely convincing.

Steve Finnan 7: Snapped eagerly at Gallas and Lampard, though exposed in the build-up to Lampard's first-half chance.

Jamie Carragher 8: Solid and consistent. Snuffed out Drogba in the air and bit into challenges on the turf. Blocked, headed and tackled.

Sami Hyypia 7: Beaten by Drogba from Lampard's corner as half-time approached, but otherwise rugged and effective.

Djimi Traore 5: Exposed too often by Cole's skilful sprints and, when he could charge forward, his shot dribbled out for a throw-in.

Luis Garcia 5: Usual mixture of sublime and ridiculous, pummelling from distance then flitting awkwardly amongst Chelsea defenders.

Xabi Alonso 7: Liverpool's metronome ticked gracefully and rarely surrendered possession. His pass freed Riise to shoot at goal.

Igor Biscan 5: Leggy presence at Alonso's side. Broke up play when he could but failed to snuff out Lampard. Booked for foul on him.

John Arne Riise 7: Forced on to right foot to poke at goal early on where he might have flourished on his left. Eager and potent threat down flank.

Steven Gerrard 8: The England midfielder prayed glorious passes from right to left and fizzed crosses from unkind angles.

Milan Baros 6: His flicked header tested Cech, and he battled hard and at pace across Chelsea's back-line without much joy.
