The ingenuity of businessmen involved in golf holds no bounds and a particularly nice idea comes from the Dublin-based Sports Signs Limited who, apart from launching a range of sportswear carrying the Hole In One motif for players achieving such a notable feat, are marketing a tasteful plaque aimed specifically at clubs.
This elegant wooden plaque - measuring four feet by three feet - has the club's personalised logo, with room for a sponsor's name should the need arise, and features top-class illustrations of each par three on the course along with 96 brass plates to acknowledge anyone who manages an ace. "We feel this concept not only adds some excitement to club competitions but will also improve the visual appearance of any clubhouse," says Gary Broe of Sports Signs, a company based in Drumcondra. Apart from the actual plaque, the company will also provide a high quality certificate for presentation by the club to anyone recording a hole in one.
