LEINSTER go into action against Pembroke in the Conqueror sponsored Leinster Senior Cup semi final at Sydney Parade today with their confidence dimmed temporarily at least after defeat by The Hills in the 50 overs League final.

A call for a better all round team effort will certainly come from their captain Clive Colleran and there is nothing like a victory, particularly with a Cup final appearance as the prize to chase the blues away.

But Pembroke are invariably a disciplined and tough side to face and looking at the respective line ups, it would seem that they bat further down the order.

So far this season the Byrnes, Joe, Johnnie and Peter, have been the anchor men for Leinster and if they depart cheaply, there may not be a sufficient depth of talent to repair the damage. Arguably because of the hefty run donations of the Byrnes, the rest of their bats men have had little practice.

O'Rourke, the tenacious Davys, all rounder Stuart McCready (there is a doubt about his availability however) and young Stephen Moulton, who knocked up a half century last weekend, can be counted upon to strain earnestly in Pembroke's drive for victory.

The second semi final, the eagerly awaited pairing of The Hills (and Rush at Milverton, has been postponed until next Saturday to d'facilitate the Skerries motor cycle road races.

There are three matches listed in the River House sponsored Leinster Senior League today with YMCA the form side against Railway Union at Claremont Road. The Hills will be hoping to maintain their superb winning run against CYM at Terenure, and Merrion face the buoyant Rush side at Anglesea Road.
