WOMEN'S HOCKEY WEEKEND PREVIEW:THERE ARE just three Leinster League First Division games scheduled for tomorrow but they all feature teams with title ambitions, including champions Railway Union and Loreto, who have perfect league records to defend.

Last weekend UCD took six points from their two fixtures, lifting them to the same tally as Railway and Loreto at the top of the table, but they have played three extra games.

The students are off-duty this weekend and could be overtaken by Hermes, two points behind the leaders, if they beat Corinthian in Booterstown.

Railway are away to Pembroke Wanderers, who have had contrasting Irish Hockey League and Leinster League campaigns to date. They are in contention for a place in the IHL semi-finals, currently lying second in their pool behind Railway, but are second from bottom in the Leinster table.

Pembroke, though, have games in hand on the teams around them, as have Old Alexandra in seventh place, but both need to end 100 per cent winning records tomorrow – Alexandra are at home to Loreto – if they are to kick-start their revivals.

Loreto are in action again on Sunday in the only all-First Division Leinster Senior Cup game of the day – they play Corinthian. The tie of the round in the Munster Senior Cup, meanwhile, is the pairing of UCC and Church of Ireland, who meet at Garryduff.
