The South Korea international will move to Loftus Road for a fee of €2.5 million once the relevant paperwork has been completed.

Park (31), who won four English Premier League titles and a Champions League during his time at United, is understood to have been swayed to join QPR by their ambitious plans.

Louis van Gaal has been appointed coach of Holland until the 2014 World Cup, the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) have announced. It marks the 60-year-old’s second spell in charge of the national team, having also led them between 2000 and 2002.

Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge has dropped down to the Championship and joined Brighton on a season-long loan deal. Bridge was farmed out to West Ham and Sunderland over the past two seasons and has now agreed another loan that will see him spend the next campaign on the south coast.

Jonathan Woodgate last night completed a return to Middlesbrough after agreeing a three-year deal. Boro have confirmed the 32-year-old former England international has signed for his hometown club for the second time after making an €8 million switch from Real Madrid in 2007. Woodgate was a free agent after his contract at Stoke expired last month.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Sheffield United right back Matt Lowton for an undisclosed fee, the midlands club have confirmed.

Teenage midfielder Gael Bigirimana has become Alan Pardew’s latest summer capture after sealing a move from Coventry. The Burundi-born 18-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal at Newcastle for an undisclosed fee, which it is understood could amount to around €1.5 million.

Jan Vertonghen will hold talks with Ajax in a bid to resolve the dispute which is holding up his transfer to Tottenham. Vertonghen has been in discussions with Spurs for some time but the centre back has been unable to finalise his move to White Hart Lane due to a contractual dispute with his current employers.

It is understood the Belgian, who is in the final year of his contract, believes he is entitled to a cut of the reported €10 million transfer fee, but Ajax disagree.
