Parity predominates

Wexford 1-8 Roscommon 0-11/AET – 1-6 to 0-9 after normal-time:AT THE end of 90 minutes of play both Wexford and Roscommon must do it all over again as extra-time failed to separate the sides at Wexford Park on Saturday.

Wexford had the ideal start with, after 25 seconds, David Fogarty played a quick free inside to Ciarán Lyng who finished to the net. Sixteen minutes elapsed before the next score, a Brian Higgins point for Roscommon.

The visitors began to enjoy a good spell thereafter but were still down by 1-3 to 0-4 at the break.They were, however, level by the 42nd minute through points from Senan Kilbride and Donal Shine.

Wexford had to wait until the 52nd minute for their first second-half score, from Eric Bradley.

Shine and Shane Cullen exchanged pointed frees and Kevin Higgins ensured extra-time with a point one minute from time.

The sides could only manage two points apiece in extra-time, and will now need to play at least another 70 minutes to see who will make round three.
