John Oxx is hopeful Arch Swing can change her luck for the better when she takes on older horses for the first time in today's Group One Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

The Newmarket 1,000 Guineas runner-up had excuses in her two starts since that classic, injuring a muscle leaving the stalls in the Irish Guineas and being unlucky in running when fourth in the Coronation Stakes.

"It is difficult to know where she fits in," the Curragh trainer said yesterday. "She hasn't had much luck this year . . . I don't think we know her best capabilities yet."

The Group One winners Nannina and Red Evie will be among Arch Swing's opposition, but Oxx added, "She didn't have a hard race at Royal Ascot and looks in good shape."
