Wexford SHC Semi-finals:An improved second-half showing from Oulart-the-Ballagh saw them eliminate holders Rathnure 0-15 to 0-13 from the Wexford SH championship at Wexford Park yesterday.

Oulart led 0-3 to 0-2 after 13 minutes but neither side could take the initiative and the sides went in at the break level at 0-6.

Oulart surged into a three-point lead through points from Nicky Kirwan, Willie Whelan and Rory Jacob. Points from Paul Codd, Martin Byrne and Eoin O'Neill kept Rathnure in touch but the challengers sealed the win with points from Darren Stamp and Michael Jacob.

Meanwhile, goals from Colm Gahan and Pat Doran helped Buffers Alley reach their first final since 1992 as they defeated St Martin's at Wexford Park.

Gahan's goal arrived after 30 seconds and the eventual winners led 1-5 to 0-6 at the interval.

Pat Doran's 54th-minute sideline went to the net, edging Buffers Alley into a four-point lead with six minutes remaining.

St Martin's responded from the puck-out with a Ruairi Quigley goal but a Willie Doran point secured the final spot.
