Skibbereen’s intermediate men’s eight fastest at Muckross Head of the River

Skibbereen and Lee Rowing Club share honour for pennants won

Skibbereen's intermediate men's eight were the fastest crew and the west Cork club shared the honour for pennants won (five) with Lee Rowing Club at the Muckross head of the River at the National Rowing Centre in Cork on Saturday.

The event, with over 300 competing crews, was run in generally good conditions, despite a bad weather forecast.

Two senior eights battled it out to be the fastest women's crew, with Trinity taking the honours from a composite crew in a time - 10 minutes 54 seconds - which was the 12th fastest of the day. Cork Boat Club won the women's senior four by just one second from another composite crew.

One of the closest contests of the day came in the men's senior quadruple sculls, where six crews vied for honours. Skibbereeen and a composite of Waterford, Castleconnell and Shandon tied on 10 minutes 10 seconds.
