O'Neill's comments raise doubts about his future at Celtic

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has publicly raised doubts over his future at the Glasgow giants.

The way the former Northern Ireland international spoke about his plans for next season at yesterday's press conference suggested he would be staying at Celtic Park despite suggestions he would leave after the end of this campaign. But, when asked if that was the case, O'Neill - who has been linked with a move to Manchester United - replied, "We are going to have to look at everything in the summer time."

O'Neill also admitted to some uncertainty over the future of Bobo Balde. He refused to comment on a report the 29-year-old defender had a clause in the contract he signed in January that could see him walk away for nothing in the summer.

O'Neill expects the Guinea international to be there next season but he also refused to rule out a possible departure. He added, "We have a number of contracts that the players sign here and they are usually private and confidential. They have all sorts of clauses, but I am not going into any detail whatsoever. I wouldn't see any reason why he wouldn't be here next season.

But the one thing for certain is that there will be many incomings and outgoings at the end of the season. O'Neill revealed, "There's going to be a number of changes in the summer time. We need some new players in the football club. One or two contracts are up and they might be resolved, but while they are not causing unbelievable concern a few things have to be sorted out in the next few weeks."

O'Neill also revealed that goalkeeper Robert Douglas had been offered a lucrative contract by Leicester and hinted the Scotland international could be on his way.

The 33-year-old is a free agent in the summer and he could be joined at the Walkers Stadium by Momo Sylla, who has been told he can look elsewhere.

O'Neill's comments come just hours before Celtic could clinch the Premier League championship. If Rangers fail to beat Motherwell today then their great rivals could retain the trophy by beating Hearts tomorrow.

The champions will also be boosted by the return from injury of their on-loan striker Craig Bellamy.
