No mercy for MICE

AN efficient and well-drilled Athlone IT carried too many big guns for MICE in a tame game at MICE grounds yesterday.

The home side were handed a warning when Fergal Wilson, Brian Forbes and Kevin Gallagher gave Athlone a four-point lead after 10 minutes.

Wilson, John Deignan, Gallagher and Stephen Lohan extended the lead, but MICE were awarded a 40th-minute penalty. Diarmuid Carroll, who netted from the spot against DIT one week earlier, this time shot over the crossbar and Athlone went on to win easily.
